This year we pay homage to 80 years of Nikola Cindro birth. In remembrance of our distinguished scientist and teacher we are organizing in his birth town Split the dedicated symposium "Highlights in Heavy-Ion Physics". The seminars will take place in the Renaissance-Baroque palace of the Milesi family, which is nowadays under jurisdiction of Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The conference will begin on Thursday morning and end with a late afternoon session at Friday. Saturday morning will be dedicated to sightseeing and to a reception at Nikola Cindro family's estate.
Many of us still share a deep feeling about Nikola's contribution in nuclear physics research
in Zagreb and in heavy-ion physics worldwide. The symposium will provide a broad
discussion forum on recent experimental and theoretical advances in the physics of atomic
nucleus: nuclear structure, dynamics, nuclear phases from low to ultra-relativistic energies
and related topics, with the focus on:
• Clustering in nuclear structure and nuclear reactions
• Nuclear matter.
Nikola was involved in pioneering age of these topics and he played an important role, in both research and mentoring. Nikola closest friends and co-workers will give a few dedicated talks.
